Ingredients
- 1 ball pizza dough (about 250 g)
- 120 ml crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small garlic clove, finely grated
- 125 g fresh mozzarella, torn into pieces
- A handful of fresh basil leaves
- Salt and black pepper
- Semolina or flour for dusting
Method
- Heat the oven to its highest setting, ideally 250°C, with a baking tray or pizza stone inside.
- Mix the crushed tomatoes with the olive oil, garlic, a pinch of salt, and black pepper.
- Stretch the dough into a thin round on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread the tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a narrow border around the edge.
- Add the mozzarella and transfer the pizza to the hot tray or stone.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- Finish with fresh basil and a drizzle of olive oil before serving.
